Middlebury, Vermont - Colby Men's Soccer(3-2-4) drew #2-ranked Middlebury(7-0-2) this afternoon, coming away with a crucial point after it ended 0-0. The Mules now sit tied for 7th in the NESCAC conference standings(1-2-2), and have tied the #1 and #2 teams in the nation.
The game got off to a hot start as five minutes into the match, goalkeeper Jackson Magee saved a shot from the top of the box and found Jude Gussen, who forced a save on the other end. Gussen later barely missed the frame, with his shot curling inches wide of the right post. Oliver Daboo kept the pressure on minutes later with the only other shot that forced a save in the half.
Coming out of the break, Magee had his work cut out for him, grabbing a header and a shot above his head to deny the Panthers an opener. The junior shot-stopper came up big again later in the half, rushing out to smother a Middlebury attacker for his sixth save of the day.Â
The Mules are back in action tomorrow at 1 pm, as they travel to Nashua, New Hampshire to take on Rivier University in a non-conference matchup.
