Northfield, Minn. – The Colby College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams showcased impressive depth across regional and national competition at the Maine State Championships and the DIII Pre-Nationals.
At the Maine State Championships in Brunswick, Stephen White (2nd, 25:12.0), Eli Ziegler (3rd, 25:12.7), and Henry Reichle (5th, 25:24.9) led the Colby men with top-five finishes, backed by Brady Clegg (18th) and Ryan Todisco (27th). On the women's side, Ada Grant sparked the Mules with a 5th-place finish in 21:46.5, followed by Lucy Huggett (24th), Zoe Goodman (30th), Abbey Wolfe (33rd), and Noe Nalavala (34th).
Building on that momentum, Colby competed in the elite Navy Championship division at Carleton College's DIII Pre-Nationals. Wartburg captured the men's title, while No. 2 Williams took the women's race.
The Colby men made a massive national statement as the top unranked team at the meet, finishing 14th out of 35 teams with 426 points—defeating four nationally ranked programs and placing directly between the No. 17 and No. 19 ranked teams in the country. White once again led the way in 26th place (25:04.7), followed by Ziegler (32nd), Reichle (81st), Clegg (159th), Todisco (164th), Greydon Gavin (170th), James Regan (201st), Derk Wolvius (289th), and Max Adam (300th).
The Mules will soon be back on Friday, October 9 for the Hopkinton Cross Country Festival at Hopkinton, N.H.
