Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men’s Hockey Secures 5-1 Win Over Hawks

Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team faced the Saint Anselm College Hawks for their first home game of the new year. With four different goal-scorers, Colby dominated with another win over the Hawks. The Mules now stand 7-3-1 overall.

The Mules and the Hawks both came out hard, as Colby took the win during the first meeting of these two teams in November. In a back and forth first period, the Mules recorded eight shots on goal compared to Saint Anselm's nine, but Colby got on the board first. Senior Max Abene netted his first of the season, assisted by Jayden Grier and Ryan Moore with four minutes left to play in the first.

In an eventful second period, junior Matthew Macdonald pushed the Mules ahead 2-0 with a goal at 12:48, assisted by Bobby Falvey and Jayden Grier. A short 17 seconds later, the Hawks answered back with their first goal of the game, cutting Colby's lead in half. With just under three minutes to play in the period, Macdonald tallied his second of the game with assists to Jayden Mullens and Ryan Moore, giving the Mules a 3-1 lead heading into the third. While Saint Anselm fought hard, Colby didn't give up, and put the game away in the third period. Junior Dhillon Wilde scored his first goal of the season on a Mules power play, assisted by Will Soloway and Tyler Crist, just over six minutes into the third. With five minutes to play in the game, sophomore Riley Rosenthal also scored his first game of the season, a power play goal assisted by Ben Morgan and Donovan O'Neil, putting the Mules ahead 5-1 at the end of 60 minutes. Junior Edward Baliotti won his second game of the season for the Mules and recorded 24 saves.

Colby is back in action this Friday at Amherst at 7pm.
