New London, Conn. - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team faces the Camels of Connecticut College for a Friday night NESCAC matchup. The mules fought hard and dominated the Camels, taking away the 3-0 victory.
The Mules controlled the first period offensively, outshooting Connecticut 21-6. At 13:33,
Allie Corrieri opened the scoring for Colby with a power-play goal, assisted by
Lulu Gray and
Megan Martodam. Despite no additional goals in the period, Colby remained strong defensively, as goaltender
Ally Martiniello made two saves to keep the Camels off the board. Entering the second period with a 1-0 lead, the Mules stayed aggressive. Just 3:50 into the period,
Cailyn Murphy doubled Colby's lead, with an assist from Corrieri. Colby continued to dominate both ends of the ice, adding 18 more shots, winning 13 of 16 faceoffs, earning two power-play opportunities, and receiving six more saves from Martiniello to preserve the shutout. With 20 minutes left to play, the Mules showed no signs of slowing down. Just 38 seconds into the third period,
Courtney Schumacher extended Colby's lead to 3-0 with a power-play goal, assisted by
Jo Tattersall and
Emily Olsthoorn. The remainder of the period featured back-and-forth action, but Connecticut was unable to break through Colby's defense. The Mules added 25 more shots in the final period for a game total of 64, while Martiniello finished with 10 saves to secure the shutout victory.
Addie Paskowski led Colby with 11 shots, while Corrieri tallied one goal and one assist in the win.
The Mules are back in action tomorrow facing Connecticut College with a 3:00 PM puck drop.
