New London, Connecticut - On a three-game unbeaten run, Colby headed down south to face last year's national championship runner-ups, Connecticut College, in one of their toughest matchups yet. After going down less than two minutes into the game, the Mules slowly crawled their way back, leaving it until the 89th minute to tie the game. The 1-1 draw takes Colby to 3-1-2 overall and 0-1-2 in NESCAC conference play.
Conceding two minutes after the whistle is tough, not only to have to find a response, but mentally it kills momentum. However, the Mules responded well, as Jude Gussen fired three shots at the Camels' goal in the space of ten minutes, forcing a save on a ball tracking to bury in the bottom left corner. From then on, both teams battled for possession in the middle of the park but couldn't muster any real chances. Colby trailed heading into the break, 1-0.
Coming out of the half, the trend from the first 45 stayed the same as both teams matched each other pretty evenly. Offensively, the Mules' push for an equalizer was tough, as they registered zero shots until the 80th minute. A shot from Chase Dolinko over the bar gave Colby some life, and almost immediately after, a chance from Theo Scott added to the Mules' momentum. Ultimately, Leo Robinson was the hero for Colby, finding the back of the net off a solo effort to tie the game and rescue a vital point.
The Mules are back in action on Tuesday, September 23rd, as they face non-conference opponent Endicott College.
