Football Hosting Trinity to Begin 2025 Season

Waterville, Maine - For the second year in a row the Colby Football team will matchup against the Trinity Bantams to begin the new season. Last year the Mules fell to the NESCAC runner-up Bantams on the road 17-7 but will look to defend their home turf this Saturday, September 13th, at the Harold Alfond Stadium and earn a 1-0 record to kick off the 2025 campaign. 

Colby will be led once again by Jack Cosgrove, The Dick McGee Head Coach, now entering his eighth season with the Mules. He is assisted by Offensive Coordinator Mark Clements (second season), Defensive Coordinator Liam Hobbins (second season), Special Teams Coordinator Tyler Cottle (first season) as well as Nick Spause, Owen Berry, Max Warden, Jack Messinger and 2025 Colby graduate Ben Entner

A new group of 19 seniors will be at the helm of the team welcoming a first-year class of 24 student-athletes who will look make an impact on the program right away.

Key returners to the offense include senior quarterback Miles Drake who had 1,750 passing yards with 14 passing TD's and 192 rushing yards including three rushing TD's in 2024. Jack Nye, the 2024 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, returns as one of Drake's top targets from last season totaling 526 yards on 36 catches. 

On the defensive side of the ball Drew Ramos returns for his junior year who had the second most tackles on the team last year with 51 including two forced fumbles. He was followed closely behind by 2024 Second Team All-NESCAC honoree Sebastien Romain who was last years team leader in sacks (nine for 62 yards) while recording 50 total tackles. Trevor Smith '26 had 49 tackles on the year last season with a team high four interceptions and three forced fumbles. Dennis Dougherty rounds out the top returning tacklers with 44. Senior Jack Mullen had eight sacks good for 56 yards on top of three forced fumbles. 

Saturday's matchup is schedule for a 1:00pm start here on Mayflower Hill as the Mules look to grab their first win against the Bantams since 1995. Fans can follow alongside the action using the live video and live stats links for all home games as well as check out the schedule tab to catch the Mules when they come to a location near you.
