Box Score Waterville, Maine - In the first of two NESCAC matches at Mayflower Hill this weekend, the Colby Women's Tennis team hosted Amherst College at noon in the Harold Alfond Athletic Center. 
The Mammoths secured the opening doubles point with 6-2 and 6-3 victories at the #1 and #3 spots respectively. Amherst rounded doubles play off with a tight 6-4 win at the #2 spot.
Amherst started singles play strong with straight-set victories at the #3 and #6 positions. With a 6-4, 6-2 win at the #2 spot, the Mammoths clinched the dual match against the Mules. Colby did not give up their fight though. All three remaining matches went the distance. Sophomore 
Jade Finestone had an impressive win at the #1 spot, defeating her Amherst opponent 6-3, 5-7, 1-0(5), showcasing incredible mental strength and key play in the deciding tiebreaker. First-year 
Ella Novion also had a tight encounter, losing at the #4 spot 6-1, 1-6, 1-0(5). The last match of the day was at the #5 spot, with first-year 
Anna Rende battling hard, before eventually falling 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(8) to her Mammoth opponent.
The Mules will look to bounce back tomorrow morning against NESCAC foe Hamilton College at 10 am.
