Box Score Hartford, Ct - Colby returned to Connecticut this weekend following a victory against Conn College a week prior. The Mules looked to build on their strong start against Trinity College on the road.
Colby started off with brilliant doubles play at all three positions. First-year Waka Aida and sophomore Jade Finestone set the tone with a dominant 6-1 victory at the #2 position. Junior captain Amelie Gal and first-year Ella Novion followed suit with a 6-2 victory at the #3 spot. To round things off, junior captain Isabella Suk and sophomore Michaela Landry defeated their Trinity opponents 6-4 at the #1 position. With these wins, Colby secured the doubles point. 
The momentum continued into singles play for the Mules. First-year Anna Rende had a dominant performance, winning 6-3, 6-1 at the #5 spot. Aida then followed with a convincing 6-1, 7-5 win of her own at the #4 spot. Landry clinched the match for the Mules 7-6(1), 6-2 at the #2 position, showcasing tremendous variety and feel throughout her match. 
Novion and Gal were also victorious in their respective singles matches, with Novion winning 7-6(1), 6-1, playing the critical points well, and Gal winning 7-5, 6-2. Ultimately, Colby defeated the Bantams 6-1 in the dual match and improve to 2-0 in the difficult NESCAC. It has been an impressive start for the Colby Women's Tennis team, who is currently ranked #36 nationally.
The Mules will take on #5 ranked Wesleyan tomorrow at 2 pm. They will look to carry their momentum and pull off the upset.Â
