Bristol, R.I. - Colby faced off against Roger Williams University, defeating the Hawks 11-7. The Mules are now 4-0 overall.
The defense started out strong for both teams, but Roger Williams hit their groove before Colby was still getting started. The Hawks were 4-2 at the end of the first quarter. The Mules were quick to get back on track though, racking up three unanswered goals in the second quarter to secure a 5-4 lead at the half. Roger Williams was quick to tie it up in the third quarter, but struggled to keep momentum as the Mules kept outsourcing them two goals to one consistently until the quarter ended with a score of 9-6. Once again, the Hawks were quick to score in the fourth quarter, but the Mules outscored them two goals to one. After a defensive showdown in the second half of the fourth quarter where neither team scored, Colby came out on top at a score of 11-7.Â
Julia Jardina was an offensive and defensive rockstar, racking up a whopping five goals, five draw controls, three ground balls, and one caused turnover.
Charlotte Michener scored two goals of her own.
