Women's Tennis Defeated by Cal Tech

Box Score

Pasadena, CA - After beginning their spring break with one win and one loss, the Mules looked to go above .500 in California in a dual match against the Caltech Beavers.

The Mules started strong in doubles play, with junior captain Amelie Gal and first-year Ella Novion defeating their opponents 6-3 at the #3 position. Colby then clinched the doubles point at the #2 spot, with sophomores Jade Finestone and Michaela Landry defeating their opponents also by a score of 6-3.

In singles play, the Beavers came out confident, securing the first set in four of the six matches. Unfortunately for the Mules, Caltech did not let up at all in those four matches, winning in straight sets at position numbers 1, 2, 4, and 5.

The Mules did find success at the #3 and #6 positions, however, in some tight contests. Novion continued her hot streak of singles play with a clutch 6-2, 2-6, 1-0(7) victory at the #3 spot. Junior captain Isabella Suk also had an impressive win at the #6 spot, defeating her Caltech opponent 7-6(5), 2-6, 1-0(8), utilizing clutch play throughout the final set tiebreaker.

Colby will look to end their spring break trip on a high against #4 ranked Pomona-Pitzer tomorrow morning.
