Waterville, Maine. - Women's Lacrosse extended their win streak today against Hamilton, defeating the Continentals 11-9. The Mules improve to a record of 4-0 in NESCAC, 6-0 overall.
Hamilton scored the first goal of the game, but Colby responded with a goal of their own barely a minute later. The Mules and the Continentals traded some goals for the remainder of the quarter, eventually settling on a 4-2 lead for Colby. Onto the next quarter they went, matching each other goal for goal, allowing the Mules to preserve their two point lead with a score of 7-5 at the half. In the third quarter, Colby and Hamilton traded streaks, each racking up a few goals before trading it off to the other team to rack up a few goals, ultimately resulting in an 11-9 lead for the Mules at the end of the third quarter. After the highest-scoring quarter of the game, both teams locked down defense, resulting in the lowest scoring quarter in the fourth. This resulted in each team shutting the other out, maintaining the 11-9 score and securing another win for the Mules.
Julia Jardina led the Mules in goals with four, also contributing an assist and three draw controls.
Gennie Littlejohn and
Kins Helmer each contributed two assists.
Izzy Wang and
Julia Maimonis each caused two turnovers.
Colby's next match is on the road against Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. at 4 pm on Wednesday, March 26.
