The Colby Men's Swimming and Diving Team completed a successful dual meet season splitting their final meets by beating Bowdoin (157-123) and falling to Bates (167-113). The Mules finish another season with an overall winning record 5-4. Great competition was had by the entire team and led by great performances by
Ivan Knoepflmacher and
Carson Rehkopf in their final dual meets for Colby.
Knoepflmacher led the way by winning both the 1 M and 3 M diving events and doing in in record fashion. He set the school record for 6 dives on 1 M and broke his own school record for the 1 M 11 dives. In addition his scores qualified him for both boards at the NCAA Regional Diving meet. Rehkopf started off the individual events by placing 2nd over all and resetting his own school record in the 200 Freestyle. He also finished 2nd overall in the 100 freestyle. Another school record was set by
Brandon Morrison in the 200 butterfly in a very tight race going right down to the final touch and a judges decision. Morrison followed that up by beating the entire field with a victory in the 100 Butterfly which is the second fastest time swum in Colby school history.
In the 50 freestyle
Ethan Chang and
Michael Fiechter finished 2nd and 3rd overall and
Spencer Cohen also put up a second place finish in the 200 Backstroke. These meets were the final tune ups for the Mules before they head to the NESCAC Championship in two weeks.
Up next for the Mules is the NESCAC championships at Middlebury from February 20th-23rd.
