Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Colby Dominates #1 Middlebury 3-0

Waterville, Maine – The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team hosted the top-ranked Middlebury Panthers for their final weekend of regular season play. Three impressive goals and a shutout by Busky propelled the Mules to an exciting 3-0 win.

Entering their last weekend of regular season play, Colby hit the ice with high energy. Just 2:48 into the first period, Lulu Gray capitalized off a passing sequence with both Breanna Studley and Molly Lefebvre to give the Mules a 1-0 lead. The Panthers amped up the offensive pressure, but that did not stop the Mules as their defense remained unstoppable. Goaltender Mandy Busky made 12 impressive saves to keep Middlebury from scoring before the period ended. Going into the second period ahead of the Panthers did not stop Colby from taking control. Just 1:08 into the period, Audrey Shirer doubled Colby's lead, with assists from Cailyn Murphy and Lizzy Hamel. After seven more minutes of intense play, Lefebvre earned a breakaway, scoring the Mule's third goal of the game. Busky made another seven saves, keeping the Mules ahead 3-0 as they entered the final period.

The third period saw lots of offensive opportunities for both the Mules and the Panthers. Colby fired four shots on goal, won 13/18 faceoffs, and Busky made seven more saves for a game total of 26. After 20 minutes of play, Colby remained on top, defeating the #1 ranked Panthers 3-0.

Colby returns tomorrow to celebrate their seniors and face Middlebury again at 3 p.m. on the Jack Kelley Rink.
