Women's Basketball Takes Care of Hamilton 65-55

Clinton, N.Y.  – The Colby Women's Basketball team used a strong fourth-quarter performance to secure a 65-55 win over Hamilton College on Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Mules conference record to 5-1 on the season and 11-8 overall.

The Continentals led early, taking a 23-14 advantage after the first quarter, but Colby quickly answered with a strong second quarter, cutting the deficit to one point by the break. After a tight third period, Colby's offense came alive in the fourth, with Ana Von Rumohr and Chelsea Ibenegbu hitting key shots to push the lead out of Hamilton's reach. The Mules outscored the Continentals 22-8 in the final period, erasing a one-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to earn the road victory. Colby's defense had a big impact on the win, forcing 18 turnovers and capitalizing with 17 points off those mistakes. The Mules also dominated at the free-throw line, hitting 20 of 28 attempts (71.4%).

Colby was led by Ana Von Rumohr, who finished with 16 points, including three three-pointers. Lydia Mordarski added 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Chelsea Ibenegbu contributed 15 points in the win.

The Mules are back in action at home Friday night February 7th versus Williams.
