Mules Continue by winning 2 More

Swimming and Diving beat Hamilton and Trinity

    The Colby Women's Swimming and Diving team has continued their winning ways and are now undefeated in their last 12 dual meets dating back to last season. On Sunday November 23rd the Mules defeated Hamilton College 178-121 and Trinity College 242-56. Their were multiple event winners as Eliza Marco had 4, Kellen Mottl and Tahlia Crowley had 3 and Lexi Asch,  Zoe Buzzelli and Avery Rappaport all had 2. In addition the team set 4 pool records at Trinity as well as Rappaport achieving a regional qualifying score on the 3 M board.

    From the first event Colby started out strong with the 200 Medley Relay of Crowley, Mottl, Asch and Marco taking 1st and beating the pool record with a time of 1:26.41. Two events later in the 200 Freestyle, Zoe Buzzelli would lead a 1, 3, 4 finish as she won and was followed by Lucy Mackey in 3rd and Iris Freeman in 4th. In the 50 breaststroke Mottl dominated the field and won by over a full second. This was followed by a 1,2,3 finish in the 100 Butterfly by Asch, Caitlin Lacey and Zoe Antonio.  Finishing the 1st half of the meet Marco had a 1st place swim in the 50 freestyle, and Rapport won the 1 M diving.

    The second half of the meet started out with the same intensity as Marco lead the way in the 100 freestyle winning with a pool record of 52.37. She was followed in second by Buzzelli and 3rd by Savannah Lombardi. Another pool record would be set in the next event by Crowley in the 100 backstroke as she won with a time of 58.62. Mottl would get her 3rd victory of the meet in the 100 breaststroke as she once again dominated the field winning by almost 3 seconds. Rappaport led another 1,2,3 finish on the 3 M board as she achieved her regional qualifying score of 268.30. She was followed in second by Kira Johnson and 3rd ny Clara Ursu. 

    In the final event, the 200 Freestyle Relay the team of Buzzeli, Mackey, Marco and Crowley set a new pool record by over 3 seconds with a time of 1:37.61 which broke the old record by over 3 seconds. It was a great way for the Mules to finish out their dual meets for the 1st semester. In addition there were 2 additions the all time Colby top 20 list:

50 Backstroke        Zoe Fencil                28.20        20th place
50 Breastroke        Rhiannon Myhre        31.62        10th place 

    The  Mules will head home for Thanksgiving break and look forward to their next meet which will be the Maine State meet at Colby on December 5th and 6th. The meet will begin with a 6 pm start on the 5th and a 10:00 am start on the 6th.
