Hopkinton, N.H. – The Colby College Men's and Women's Cross Country teams took on a competitive New England field at the Hopkinton Cross Country Festival, turning in several strong performances on a challenging course.
The men's team earned a fourth-place finish in the 8k, led by
Ciaran Groom, who crossed the line 21st overall in 26:16.8.
Angus Cook followed close behind in 27th (26:38.0), while Nate Goodman rounded out the scoring pack in 30th (26:43.9) to secure Colby's top team result of the season so far.
In the women's 5k, Colby did not record a team score but had standout individual efforts.
Paige Goodwin led the Mules with a 6th-place finish in 20:05.0, followed by
Marianne Spyra in 14th (20:36.0) and
Norah Mills in 20th (20:51.1). The trio continued to show promise as the women's squad builds momentum heading into the next stretch of the season.
The Mules will be at Connecticut College on Saturday, October 18 to continue their season.
