Lewiston, Maine — The Colby College Track and Field teams competed at the Maine States' Pine Tree Classic at Bates College on April 17-18, with both the women's and men's teams securing second-place finishes. The women placed second out of 10 teams, while the men finished second out of nine.
Charlotte Brake-Hoffman led the women with a victory in the 100 meters, crossing in 12.04 seconds to take first place.
Simone Waheed captured the 200 meters in 24.41, while
Kaitlyn Ewald spearheaded a 1-2-3 sweep in the 400 meters with a winning time of 57.40. Ewald was followed by
Olivia Doherty (2nd, 57.51) and
Alex Hermsdorf (3rd, 58.20). Maddie Bush added a second-place finish in the 800 meters in 2:21.94, and
Jordan Roskiewicz placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.31. The Mules also dominated the relays, claiming first place in both the 4x100-meter (48.82) and 4x400-meter (3:57.52) events.
On the men's side,
Patrick Kuprewicz captured first place in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.89, leading a top-three sweep for Colby in the event.
Lexington Lehnert won the pole vault by clearing 4.97 meters, while
Brady Clegg took first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:38.48. In the 800 meters,
Jackson Coelho and
Henry Reichle placed second and third respectively in 1:53.75 and 1:53.86. Sam Graubart finished third in the 400 meters (48.12), and
James Regan added a third-place showing in the 5,000 meters in 15:55.08.
Logan Sullivan contributed a runner-up finish in the high jump (1.92m) and a fifth-place result in the 200 meters (22.89).
The Mules will return to action for the NESCAC Championships at Williamstown, Mass. hosted by Williams College, on April 25.
