Waterville, ME - The Colby College Mules (10-4-2, 5-4-1) defeated the Williams College Ephs (6-8-1, 3-6-0) by a score of 3-0 in their Friday night matchup.
The first period saw action right from the puck drop.
Jake MacDonald scored on the first shot of the game to give the Mules an early lead. Though no goals were scored during the rest of the period, both teams kept it clean for 20 minutes of hard-fought hockey.
The energy of the first period matched that of the first.
Massimo Gentile scored early in the first period to make the score 2-0.
Donovan O'Neil assisted Gentile on the goal.
Javi Ubarri was sent to the box at the 4:50 mark in the period for cross-checking.
Colby put the nail in the coffin in the third period. At the 9:56 mark,
Matthew MacDonald scored to make the score 3-0.
Jayden Mullens and
Will Molson provided assists on the play.
Cooper Rautenstrauch was in net for Colby, saving 27 shots in his clean-sheet performance.
The Mules will return to action on Saturday, January 25 at 3:00 PM for a matchup with the Middlebury College Panthers in Waterville.
