Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Mules Take Down Conn on Homecoming

Waterville, Maine - In front of a raucous homecoming crowd, the Colby Women's Soccer Team took down Connecticut College 1-0 on Saturday. The Mules had dropped seven straight matches against the Camels going into the game, but this year's team ended the streak.

Colby had multiple opportunities throughout the first half and, in the 41st minute, put one through to grab the lead. The goal, assisted by Annie Liebich, was Catherine Watrous's third of the season. MK Marshall was outstanding in goal again, getting her second clean sheet of the season and making five saves in the effort.

The game was chippy at times, with both teams combining for 23 fouls, but Colby looked dominant for much of the game and outshot the Camels 10 to 7.

The win highlights Colby's ascension to the top rungs of the NESCAC, a remarkable and well-earned turnaround from two seasons ago. They now stand at 5-1 with a 2-1 record in conference play and two road wins against top-25 teams. The Mules will return to action next Saturday for a critical home match-up against Williams. Colby has struggled mightily against the Ephs, with their last win coming in 2006. Still, if any team can end the streak, it might be this year's group.
