Biddeford, Maine - The Colby College Field Hockey team played at University of New England on Tuesday night for their second game of the season. The two teams fought hard for a full 60 minutes, but Colby finished on top with a 2-0 win.
The Mules and the Nor'easters both came out strong in the first two quarters of the game. Colby earned six penalty corners in the first half compared to UNE's two.
Molly Mitchell broke the tie halfway through the third quarter with a goal off a penalty corner, her second of the season. The teams played evenly matched the whole game. UNE earned four more penalty corners in the second half, keeping the Mules on their toes. With five minutes to play in the game,
Pernilla Shaw fired a ball into the circle on a penalty corner and
Casey Winslow tapped the ball in to secure the win.
Opal O'Rourke made four saves in the first half of the game and
Harri Baker maintained the Colby shutout in the second half of the game with one save.Â
Colby is back in action on Saturday at Tufts at 1pm.
