Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Softball team played another double-header today against Husson University. They unfortunately lost both games, with the first game ending in a score of 6-8 and the second one at 4-5. This brings the Mules to a record of 9-9 for the season and the Eagles to 12-4.
Game 1:
- No runs were made by either teams in the first two innings, but Colby gained a lead in the third. Carissa Cassidy singled to left field, allowing her to advance to second. Ayston Asadoorian then scored on an error. Cassidy proceeded to steal third, followed by Kathryne Clay singling to third and advancing to second. Cassidy was then able to score on a wild pitch, ending the inning with a score of 2-0.
- The Mules then went on to have a spectacular fourth inning, securing an additional three runs. Colleen McAvoy singled to left field and Katelyn Hays reached on a fielder's choice. Cassidy then reached first on an error and Kelsey Sullivan scored unearned. Additionally, Clay singled to center field, leading Caroline DeSimone and Hays to score, both unearned. At the end of this inning, the Mules had an outstanding lead of 5-0.
- Colby didn't score again until the ninth inning, resulting in Husson bouncing back. During the ninth, Cassidy advanced to third on a wild pitch and proceeded to score unearned.
Game 2:
- The Mules built up another lead straight away in the second game with two runs in the first inning. Cassidy advanced to third on another wild pitch, followed by Grace Gouin singling to center field and allowing Cassidy to score. Gouin then proceeded to steal second. Victoria Ramirez singled to third base and stole second. Juliana Kiley singled to right field, allowing Gouin to score. Kiley then advanced to second on a wild pitch.
- Colby secured another two runs in the third inning. Emma Burham homered to left center and Ella Wilcox doubled to right center. Wilcox then proceeded to advance to third on a wild pitch and eventually scored.
- In the seventh inning, Chloe Wilcox singled to right field and Kiley walked. Burnham then proceeded to fly out to right field.
Next, the Mules will play another home double-header against Middlebury College on Saturday, April 13th at 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
