Colby Takes the Dub Against Brandeis During Second Match of the Season

Waltham, Mass. - The Colby College Women's Tennis Team took the win again today during their second match of the season against Brandeis University, finishing off the day with a score of 5-4.

With the first signs of spring starting to emerge, the teams were able to play outside in the Cordish Tennis Center for today's match. The Mules won one doubles match (8-7) and four out of their six singles matches. The doubles lineup was the same as it was in their last match with Conn. College, which clearly proved successful with a 9-0 sweep. The singles lineup also stayed the same, with Michaela Landry taking the biggest lead in her singles #6 position, winning both of her sets 6-2.

Sam Riordan, secured in her singles #1 position, even made it to a third set which she dominated with a score of 6-2. Ellie Gershaw in the #2 position saw a competitive first set against Nancy Zhang, but landed on top with a score of 7-6 and then proceeded to crush her second set 6-2. In the #5 position, Jade Finestone won her first set by a long shot (6-1) and saw a slightly closer second set, but still manged to secure a win of 6-4.

The Mules will be heading down to Georgia next week to play Emory University on Sunday, March 24th.
