Rittenhouse Earns All-American Award, Finalist for DIII Player of the Year

Gloucester, Mass - Meg Rittenhouse of the Colby Women's Ice Hockey team adds another major accolade to her resume after securing a spot on the 2023-24 CMM/AHCA Women's Division III All American First Team East after being named to the Second Team East last year. The senior is also one of 15 student-athletes to be named a finalist for the Laura Hurd Award given out to the AHCA Women's Ice Hockey Division III Player of the Year.

The 2024 NESCAC Player of the Year had a stellar season grabbing her third first team selection of her career. Rittenhouse tallied the most goals (16), game-winning goals (6), points (29), points per game (1.16) and tied fifth in assists in the conference (13). The 2022 NESCAC rookie of the year helped lead the Mules as the team captain to a 17-8-1 record to appear in their fourth conference semifinal in five tournaments.

The All American teams are voted on by DIII women's head coaches recognizing the top 24 hockey players in their division. The honorees come from 15 different schools, and 21 of the 24 are from the U.S., with one each from New Brunswick, Ontario and Norway.

The Laura Hurd Award, given out to the best DIII women's ice hockey player in the country, honors the memory of former Elmira College standout Laura Hurd. A 2005 graduate of Elmira, and a four-time All-American, Hurd died in an automobile accident shortly after graduation. She was the recipient of the AHCA Player of the Year Award in 2005. The recipient of this year's Hurd Award will be announced on Thursday, March 16.
