lHanover, N.H. - The Colby Nordic Ski teams placed nine in the top-30 in the opening Freestyle Sprint of the Dartmouth Carnival, with the men's team placing fifth and the women's team sixth in the 11-team race.
Three women made the sprint brackets after the opening qualifier.
Gretta Scholz sat in 6th,
Lola Villafranco was in 18th, and
Lili Baer qualified in 29th position. After the heats, the three settled into 12th, 27th, and 29th respectively.
Six men finished the qualifying round in the top-30, led by
Taiga Moore with the second fastest time of the morning.
Clint Macy was in 11th,
Benjamin Lewis 12th,
Andrew Defor 16th,
Matous Matousek 17th, and
Isak Nightingale rounded out the group in 22nd. After the heats, the top three scorers for the Mules were Moore in 13th, Macy in 15th, and Matousek in 16th.
With Jack Young competing on the World Cup this week, the door was open for Colby to show its depth and the Mules responded placing six men's skiers in the top-22.
Colby is back in action Saturday to close out the Dartmouth Carnival with the 15k Classic Mass Start.
