New London, Connecticut - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team traveled to Connecticut College to take on the Camels in their final NESCAC series of the regular season. Colby defeated Connecticut 4-2, improving their record to 15-7-1 overall and 7-7-1 in conference play.
The Mules got off to a hot start, outshooting Conn 16-6 in the first period.
Breanna Studley scored early for Colby, followed by a goal by
Beth Sinson midway through the period. The Mules earned a power play late in the period allowing
Megan Martodam to add to the tally, making it 3-0 heading into the first intermission. A Colby penalty early in the second period allowed for a Connecticut power play goal. Colby's
Courtney Schumacher answered 10 minutes later with her third goal of the season. The Camels took the momentum into the second intermission with a goal in the last four seconds of the period. In the third period, the Mules were able to kill two penalties and maintain their 4-2 lead through the end of the game.
The Mules will rematch the Camels tomorrow afternoon in their last game of the regular season.
