The Mules Sweep Tournament, Defeat Westfield State

Waterville, Maine - Following their win over Plymouth Saturday 67-24 to open the Gene DeLorenzo Tournament here on Mayflower Hill, the Colby Women's Basketball team continued their win streak Sunday against Westfield State University, defeating the Owls 85-49. The Mules' record improves to 2-0 overall as Westfield drops to 2-1. 

Colby's offense and defense were on fire during the first quarter, racking up 24 points and keeping Westfield State at just 6. The second quarter saw an additional strong performance by both teams, with Westfield State pushing 16 additional points while Colby kept the big lead adding on 21 points for a score of 45-22 heading into the second half. Defense was the name of the game in the third quarter, with the Owls scoring 11 and Colby scoring 16. The Mules maintained its lead through the end, racking up 24 points while keeping the Owls at 16 for a 85-49 final score.

The Mules saw a lot of strong performers, including five players scoring over 10 points including Ana Von Rumohr with 20 of her own. Lili Nagy's double double did wonders for the Mules' offense. Nagy and two additional players had rebounds in the double digits, including Caroline Hartley and Amelia Hanscom. Chelsea Ibenegbu also had an impressive showing with four steals.

Colby will remain home facing off against Maine Maritime Academy Wednesday, November 20th, at 7:30pm.
