Box Score Brunswick, Maine - The Colby Women's Tennis team continued their 2024-25 fall season over the weekend at the Polar Bear Invite hosted by Bowdoin College. The event hosted Colby, Bowdoin, Babson, and Brandeis.
The Mules participated in a hidden dual format that consisted of three singles and three doubles matches against opposing teams. First-year
Ella Novion continued her impressive fall campaign, winning three matches against Babson and Brandeis opponents including a three-set thriller in singles against Babson #2 player 7-5, 0-6, 10-3. Novion teamed up with
Waka Aida to defeat their Brandeis #2 opponents in a tight 7-5 victory, and paired up with first-year
Anna Rende to defeat Babson #3 opponents in dominating fashion, 6-0.
Colby also had impressive wins in singles play throughout the event. Sophomore
Jade Finestone showed great mental toughness, coming back from a set down to win 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 against her Brandeis #1 opponent. Junior captains
Amelie Gal and
Isabella Suk also picked up strong victories, with Gal defeating her Brandeis #6 opponent 6-3, 6-3 and Suk defeating her Babson #7 opponent 8-2.
The Mules will return to action on Friday, October 11th for a three-day invite hosted by Middlebury College.
