Waterville, Maine - The Colby Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving team defeated WPI in their home competition on Saturday with a final score for the women of 194-98, and the men 180-113. A great day for Colby on Mayflower Hill!
The Colby women clinched first in many events. Here are the winners on the women's side…In the 200 Medley Relay, Tahila Crowley,
Kellen Mottl,
Gabriella Landau, and
Lily Moy took first. In the 100 Yard Backstroke, Landau won the event, while Mottl won the 100 Yard Breastroke. In the 200 Yard Butterfly,
Lexi Asch clenched the first, while Moy once again brought the heat and won the 50 and 100 Yard Freestyle. In the One and Three Meter Diving event,
Avery Rappaport took first place. In the 200 Yard Backstroke,
Annabelle Mullin won, while Mottl dominated in the 200 Yard Breastroke. Asch took another win in the 500 Yard Freestyle, while
Anna Coleman won the 100 Yard Butterfly.
Colby men also dominated the field with multiple first place finishes. Here are the results…In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, Brandon Xiong, Alexander MacLennan, Neil Mortimer, and Allen Zhu took first, while Nathaniel Chon won in the 1000 Yard Freestyle. Carson Rehkopf snagged first in the 200 Yard Freestyle, while Spencer Cohen won in the 100 Yard Backstroke. In the 100 Yard Backstroke, Max LaRoche got the gold, and in the 200 Yard Butterfly, Skylar Yoham took first. In the competitive 50 Yard Freestyle, Mortimer beat teammate Zhu by a few tenths of a second to get first place. In the Three Meter Dive, Tate Weltzin won with score of 257.62. In the 200 Yard Backstroke, Cohen got another win under his belt, while MacLennan also got another win in the 200 Yard Breastroke. Chon won the 500 Yard Freestyle, while Mortimer got another win in the 200 Yard Butterfly.
This was a successful day for Colby Swimming and Diving, and they are looking forward to their next competition this weekend at Wesleyan in Middletown, Connecticut. Way to Go Mules!
