Bangor, Maine - The Colby Women's Basketball team fell just short of winning their last non-conference game of the season, with a final score of 67-64. This places the Mules at a total of nine wins and seven losses, and a conference total of one win and two losses so far this season. Husson now has a record of 8-8 overall and 4-2 for their conference, North Atlantic.
This was an incredibly close game that grossed in 350 attendees. The Mules maintained a close lead for the first half of the game, ending the first quarter with a score of 19-17 and entering halftime with a score of 35-28. However, the Eagles had a tremendous bounce back in the second half, accumulating 39 additional points while Colby gained 29. Both teams had seven steals, but Husson took on a slightly more defensive approach with 10 blocks compared to Colby's one. Overall, the Mules and Eagles were neck-and-neck, as the score tied nine times and lead changed 11 times. However, Husson managed to scrape by with those three extra points, leading them to the take the win.
Amelia Hanscom and
Lydia Mordarski both played incredibly well with Hanscom totaling 10 points, including eight rebounds and three steals, and Mordarski with four rebounds and one steal.
Kate Olenik dominated the game with a career high 27 points including seven rebounds and two steals.
Colby's next match is a home game taking place on Saturday, January 20th against their rivals Bowdoin College.
