Colby Faces Tough Battle Against Bowdoin Rivals

Waterville, Maine - After losing an incredibly close game against Husson University, the Colby College Women's Basketball team took another loss against their rivals of Bowdoin College with a final score of 72-57. This brings the Mules to a record of 9-8 overall so far this season and a NESCAC record of 1-3. Today's game brings the Polar Bears' total record to 17-1 and undefeated in the NESCAC.

The first half of this game was close, but Bowdoin maintained a slight lead, entering halftime with a score of 33-25. However, the fourth quarter was an absolutely riveting, neck-and-neck battle as the Mules were determined to gain back those lost points. Unfortunately, the Polar Bears scored an extra point which led to a score of 19-18 for the quarter and an overall score of 72-57. Colby approached the game more offensively, totaling five blocks and six steals, while Bowdoin only had two blocks and four steals.

All of the Mules played incredibly well in today's game, but Kate Olenik and Chelsea Ibenegbu ruled the court. Olenik netted a total of 11 points with two steals and seven rebounds while Ibenegbu pocketed 10 points, including two steals and three rebounds. Despite these amazing plays, Lydia Mordarski really took the lead in this game by contributing a total of 18 points to the team's overall score and had five rebounds.

Colby will soon hit the road again, departing to Connecticut for their next game against Trinity College on Sunday, January 21st.
