Women's Track and Field (Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps)

Track and Field Compete at Bowdoin and Wheaton

Norton, Mass | Brunswick, Maine - The Colby College Track and Field team returned to winter compeition this Saturday splitting up as sprints, hurdles and jumps heading off to the Lyon Invitational hosted by Wheaton and the distance runners competed at Bowdoin in the Polar Bear invite. 

Although the distance runners held no team scores they competed well in their 1000m and 3000m races. Henry Reichle took second in the 1000m race with a time of 2:34.10 followed closely by Liam McGoldrick also taking a podium position in third with a time of 2:36.72. In the 3000m race, Hayden Bailey took second (9:11.77) as Wilson Bailey took third (9.12.54) for more podium spots. 

Onto the Lyon Invitational, Colby was able to produce an overall third place men's finish and a fourth place women's finish as the Mules gathered multiple top-3 performances. On the women's side of competition, the 4x400 relay team won consisting of Anna Mackey, Marielle Goganian, Olivia Doherty and Kaitlyn Ewald. Isabel Llach was also able to grab a first place finish in the triple jump event. For the 500m, Fiona Mejico took second place as Colby snagged a handful of third place finishes. Tally Zeller (300m), Kristina Pizzi (500m), Erin Daugherty (60m Hurdles) and Llach (high jump). 

The men's team competed respectfully as well as Terrel Hood-Simeon took the win in the 60m as well as Peter Martel in the Pole Vault. Logan Lehnert finished behind Martel in the pole vault for a second place finish. Other second place finishes include Jackson Coelho in the 500m and Levi Biery in the 60m hurdles. To wrap up podium finishes, Markus Christie netted third in the 300m and Kevin Yan third in the triple jump. 

The Mules will remain split next weekend with a group heading to New Jersey for the Ramapo Opener with others remaining in Maine for the Bates Invitational. Distance athletes will have a short break before hosting Thomas and UMF on January 24.
