Waterville, Maine — Faced with another NESCAC matchup today, the Mules struggled to come back from an early lead by the Jumbos, falling 3-2.
In the first 20 seconds of the game, goal keeper Brendan McCarthy blocked the first shot on goal by the Jumbos. Tufts continued to pressure Colby's defense, eventually making it to the back of the net in the 9th minute of the game. Following fouls by both teams, the Jumbos scored their second goal of the game in the 29th minute. To secure a bigger lead going into the second half, the Jumbos found another opportunity to score their third goal in the 40th minute, making the score 3-0.
Entering the second half, the Mules needed to come back from Tufts' three goal lead and started to do so in the 48th minute. Arkam Traore scored his second goal of the season assist by Eduardo Casanova to shrink the deficit. Later, into the 73rd minute of the game, Eduardo Casanova scored his third goal of the season, making the score 3-2 in favor of the Jumbos. Despite several more goal attempts, the Mules fell short on the day.
Before another NESCAC matchup next weekend, the Mules will face Husson University on Tuesday, October 3rd at 7:00 p.m.
