Waterville, ME - The Colby Women's Tennis Team defeated 38th ranked NESCAC rival Bates by a score of 9-0.
The Mules dominated in the doubles, and found themselves with all of the momentum heading into the singles. At line 1, junior captains Sam Riordan and Sydney Landau won 8-4. On court 2, freshmen Maddie Omicioli and Isabella Suk defeated their opponents 8-2. At 3rd doubles, Ellie Gershaw and Amelie Gal cruised past their opponents 8-3.
In the singles, Riordan defeated Joanna Atwater of Bates 6-3, 6-1 at line 1. At line 3, Omicioli cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory. At 4th singles, Gershaw only dropped one game in her 6-0, 6-1 victory. Bella Suk, at 5th singles for Colby, won 6-3, 6-1. At 6th singles, senior captain Caleigh McClain overcame her opponent 6-2, 6-1. Finally, at 2nd singles, Landau outlasted Ally Friedman 7-6, 6-4 to complete the sweep for the Mules.
The Mules continue NESCAC play against Tufts on Saturday, April 8th.
