Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

The Mules Fall to #1 Middlebury College

Waterville, Maine - On Saturday afternoon, the Colby Women's Lacrosse Team hosted the Middlebury Panthers (13-0, 8-0 NESCAC) for their eighth conference game of the season on Mayflower Hill. Middlebury's 28-straight road wins and 18-straight overall wins dating back to the 2022 season showcase their dominance on the lacrosse field. Despite multiple offensive attempts from the Mules side, the top-ranked Middlebury Panthers handed the Colby Women's Lacrosse team their first loss after a nine-game winning streak in a final score of 5-17, asserting their place as the top in the NESCAC conference. This drops the Mules to an overall record of 9-4 and a conference record of 5-3.

After Middlebury's quick start which gave them a 5-0 lead, Colby managed to get on the scoreboard with two goals and close the score deficit. However, Middlebury's defense held strong throughout the second and third quarters, preventing the Mules from scoring any goals and extending the Panthers' lead to 11-2. In the third quarter, Middlebury's offense continued to dominate, scoring three more goals while the Panther's defense remained impenetrable, keeping Colby scoreless. This gave Middlebury a comfortable 14-2 lead heading into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, Annie Eddy managed to score twice to reduce the deficit. However, it was not enough as Middlebury ultimately triumphed with a final score of 17-5. Despite the loss, Colby's goalies, Sarah Hearns and Jillian Kane, made five saves during the game, showing her team's resilience and determination to compete against the top-ranked Panthers.

The Mules will look to get back on their winning streak when they will challenge Trinity College in a home game for their next matchup Saturday.
