Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Late Rally Not Enough For Colby

Waterville, MAINE - The Colby College Men's Lacrosse team returned home this afternoon to face Connecticut College following their week-long spring break trip through Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New York. Colby came into the game still searching for their first conference win of the season. The Mules only trailed by two at the half but could not pull ahead of the visitors in the end. The loss drops Colby to 1-6 as the Camels improve to 4-3.

The first half saw the Mules move the ball around efficiently on offense and stifle Connecticut College on defense. Colby took a 5-1 lead into the second quarter as they outplayed the Camels for much of the first half. Evan DeVita had a first-half hat trick to lead the Mules in scoring as Bennett Goller netted two to round out Colby's first-half scoring. Other first-half successes included Justin Turley winning nine face-offs and the Mules going two for two on extra-man opportunities.

The second half saw the Camels come into the game a little more as they dominated in face-offs and groundballs. However, the Mules found wind in their sails midway through the second half as they closed the gap to three. DeVita, Jack Goller, and Ryan Darby all had a goal for Colby in the second half. Statistical success in the game for the Mules included Will Rickards posting a season-high 15 saves. At the same time, Brooks Rayment again led in the ground ball game with four. In addition, Jake Surette and Bennett Goller had three a piece.

Colby returns to action on April 5th when they travel to take on MIT at 7pm.
