Lake Placid, N.Y. - The Colby Nordic Ski Team wrapped up their season on Saturday, competing in the 20k Classic race at Whiteface Mountain.
Zach Nemeth led the Mules in 19th, with
Jack Young and
Gretta Scholz finishing in 35th and 36th, respectively.
An overcast morning broke way to sunshine in the afternoon. Temperatures sat just above freezing, leaving the snow good and skiers warm, all in all, a perfect day.
Nemeth capped a stellar season where he managed a podium and three top 7s. His performance on the day marked the best result by a male Nordic skier at NCAA's since Zane Fields achieved All-American status in 2019. He finished with a time of 58:52, a mere 2 minutes outside of the top 10 and All-American status.
Jack Young capped his first NCAA Championships in 35th, and
Gretta Scholz, who had struggled with sickness in the week leading up to the race, finished the day in 36th.
It's been a superb season for the Mules, filled with strong results. The future looks bright for Colby Nordic, who will return all three NCAA qualified skiers. It will now be time for some deserved rest and recovery before the team gets ready for next season.
