Williamstown, Mass.- The Colby Men's Basketball team took the court this afternoon, playing in the NESCAC title game for the second time since March 2020. Colby looked to do the double over on the Continentals, having previously beaten them two weeks ago to move up in the standings. The Mules, unfortunately, could not sustain a solid second half as they eventually fell short in their fight for a title. Hamilton, with the victory, clinches the automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. At the same time, Colby awaits the news if there will be more basketball to play.
The first half saw the Mules get off to a strong start as they took a 32-21 lead into the half. Strong shooting and active defense were the keys to the 12-point halftime advantage. The Mules shot the ball at a 50 percent clip while limiting the Continentals on the perimeter.
Will King led the scoring for Colby with 11 first-half points.
Noah Tyson contributed eight points and seven rebounds in a strong half for the team.
The second half was a different story as the Mules struggled to shoot the ball and hit only 28 percent of their shots. While Colby struggled to shoot the ball, the Continentals rallied hard, hitting 68 percent of their shots and outscoring Colby 50-27 in the second half. King led the scoring again with 11 points while
Lucas Green also chipped in 11 points.
The Mules will find out if their season continues tomorrow at 1 pm as they hope to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament with a 20-7 overall record.
