Amherst, Mass. - The Colby Women's Basketball team traveled to Amherst Friday night for a conference matchup against the Mammoths. The Mules started off with a huge 19-7 run in the first quarter but the game ultimately led to a 56-42 Colby loss. The Mules stand at 8-13 overall and 3-6 in the conference.
Carter McGloon and
Lydia Mordarski combined for 13 in the first quarter as Colby jumped out to the 12 point lead. However, Amherst flipped the script in the second quarter going on a 17-7 run, making it just a two point lead for the Mules going into halftime. In the third, the Mammoths continued their hot shooting netting 21 points and dominant rebounding as they held on to the lead resulting in the final score of 56-42.
Chelsea Ibenegbu and Mordarski finished with 12 points a piece as McGloon (eight rebounds) and
Caroline Smith finished with eight points each.
Colby will head to Hamilton tomorrow for their last regular season game in an important matchup as the Continental's sit two spots in front of the Mules in the conference standings.
