Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Falls to SUNY Canton

Waterville, Maine - On day two of the Thomas Charlie Ryan Classic the Colby Women's Basketball team looked to grab another victory for a 2-0 season start but came up short falling to SUNY Canton 72-62. This places the Mules at 1-1 while the Kangaroos improve to 3-0.

Colby kept it close throughout the first three quarters heading into the fourth only down three points. In the final frame SUNY Canton went on a run putting themselves up 16 with four minutes to go in the game however, the Mules were able to fight back and get within five points with just 50 seconds to go. With limited time remaining, Colby started to foul hoping the Kangaroos would miss at the free throw line but they pulled through and held on for the ten point win and Mules loss.

Colby's bench made a huge contribution netting 29 points compared to SUNY Canton's 12. Kate Olenik, coming off a great debut yesterday, was responsible for 19 of those bench points while also grabbing eight rebounds and four steals. Lydia Mordarski totaled 12 points and four steals with Caroline Smith right behind adding 11 points.

The Mules will remain on the road heading to Cambridge, Mass. Tuesday for a 7:00pm game against MIT.
