Polar Bears Defeat Mules in their Last Home Conference Game

Waterville, Maine — Despite Colby being the first to put a point on the board, Bowdoin College gained an early comeback lead to inflict a 5-1 loss on the Mules.

After kickoff, Bowdoin was the first to attempt a couple of goals on Colby's Brendan McCarthy, but they were unsuccessful. To challenge the Polar Bears, Eduardo Casanova started off the Mule's offensive side with a header shot that went just wide of the net. Around three minutes later, at 8:24, Casanova blew the ball past Bowdoin's goalkeeper to score into the top right corner. This was the first goal of the game and his fourth goal of the season. Casanova was assisted by Mario Simoes. To tie it up after Colby's early lead, Bowdoin came back in the ninth minute to score their first goal off a rebound, making it 1-1. A couple of minutes later, the Polar Bears took the lead to put the Mules behind 2-1. In the 31st minute, Bowdoin widened the deficit making it 3-1 to enter the second half.

Although there were multiple shot attempts by the Mules to start the second half, Bowdoin scored again in the 64th and 68th minute to end in a 5-1 loss for Colby. Myles Culley, Mario Simoes, and Charlie Scott all contributed towards Colby's attempts to come back from the Polar Bears' lead.

The Mules will have another home game this weekend to face Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday, October 21st at 12:00 p.m. This will be their last home game of the season.
