Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Colby Dominates NESCAC Matchup with Season High

Waterville, Maine- Colby College Women's Ice Hockey competed in the second game of a weekend series against the Trinity College Bantams, winning 9-3. The Mules are now 11-5-0 overall and 5-5-0 in NESCAC conference competition.

Colby began with a ceremonial puck drop to continue celebrating the alumane for the 50th-anniversary celebration of women's ice hockey. In the first period the Mules came out with strong possesions and played with a collaborative offense. This effort paid off with the first of Colby's nine goals. Seven minutes into the first period, Bri Michaud-Nolan hit the puck into the net through traffic for her second goal of the year. Courtney Schumacher and Klara Jandusikova were credited with the assist for the goal. Less than a minute later, Jo Tattersall continued her freshman campaign with a goal to take Colby up to 2-0, this also gave Alex Thomas her first assist for the season. Colby saw a lot of offensive zone time throughout the first period, allowing the goalie, Mandy Busky, to prepare for a second period where she would notch out ten saves. In the second period, the Bantams answered the Mules back with two goals, however, the Mules' five goals; by Meg Rittenhouse, Audrey Shirer, Lily Wisniewski, Courtney Schumacher, and Bri Michaud-Nolan, put them up five going into the third period. The goal by Lily Wisniewski marks her first of the season. In the third period, two goals by Breanna Studley secured the six-point margin of victory for the Mules. The nine goals by Colby are the most the Bantams have allowed this season and mark the Mules' sixth straight victory against Trinity.

Next Friday, February 3rd, Colby College Women's Ice Hockey will compete against the Amherst College Mammoths at 7:00 pm at the Jack Kelley Rink at the O'Neil O'Donnell Forum.
