Box Score Waterville, Maine- The Colby Women's Tennis team traveled to Williamstown, Massachusetts for the ITA New England Regional Championships this past weekend.
The event consisted of an A and B singles draw and a doubles draw comprised of the strongest players in the region. Colby sent eight women to the tournament.
In the A flight singles, junior captain
Sam Riordan won her first round against a player from Babson 6-3, 6-4, but came up just short in her second round match against Rachel Cranley of Tufts.
Colby freshman
Amelie Gal made her singles debut in the B flight taking out Jiayi Zhang of Brandeis before falling to Charlotte McCann of Middlebury 8-2.
In the doubles draw, Colby freshman Malika Chari and sophomore
Caroline Kittle knocked out a team from Curry College 8-3 in the first round but were defeated by Claudia Miller and Lulu Wu of Middlebury 8-4 in the following round.
The women will conclude their fall season in two weekends at the NEWITT tournament at Smith College.
