Worcester, Mass. - The Colby Women's Crew team finished 15th out of 25 and the Men's Crew team finished 18th out of 24 at the New England Rowing Championships in Worcester, Mass. Despite challenging conditions the women's Varsity 8 (

Katie McKinley,
Alyssa Kent,
Lillian Bryant,
Mackenzie Younker,
Harriet Winterer and
Isabel Grimes) battled to a 14th place finish, narrowly missing the top place in the third final to Vermont by only a couple of seconds. The women's 2nd Varsity 8 (
Laney Bagwell,
Olivia Mundy,
Pardis Koplos,
Molly George,
Kelly Hooper,
Abby Conway,
Caitlin Wiseman,
Lucinda Harden and
Kirsten Ishii) also face difficult weather and persevered to a top finish in the 3rd final, 13th overall, beating out the Coast Guard Academy by four seconds. The women's 3rd Varsity 4 (
Vivian Nguyen,
Jessie Rose,
Jules Lovett,
Alessandra Amano and
Ainsley Bonang) also gave a strong showing, placing well above seed by finishing 4th after being ranked 7th.
Despite being hit hard by illness, the Colby Men's Crew team showed true grit and resilience in the face of adversity. One of the biggest highlights fo the day was the men's Varstiy 4 (
Alyssa West,
Charlie Anderson,
Mason Cheney,
Peter Sanford and
Charlie Stevenson) who finished in a medal position after finishing 3rd overall. Additionally, the men's 2nd Varsity 4 (
Madeleine Zullow,
Evan Goggin,
Collin Steinberger,
Elliot Do and
Siddhartha Buddhadev) also put in a steller effort to finished 5th overall, well above their ranking of 8th.
Racing continues next weekend with National Invitational Rowing Championships back in Worcester.
