Waterville, Maine - Welcome to Colby Athletics' summer spotlight series, where we take a look into what Colby student-athletes are working on over the summer break. Up next we have rising senior Kat Xiong of Colby Softball.

This summer Kat is working as a Sales and Service intern for the Somerset Patriots, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. As a sales intern, she is gaining hands-on experience assisting with group sales, ticket sales, fulfillment, and customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the ticket office and ballpark. Kat has also had the opportunity to help with generating marketing ideas for special events, group outings, and game-day promotions giving her a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to create a great fan experience. 

"This internship has shown me how much teamwork, dedication, and behind-the-scenes effort go into creating an unforgettable game-day experience," stated Xiong. "Every day has been an opportunity to learn something new, but what has meant the most to me is how personal this job really is. I've had the chance to meet so many fans, families, season ticket holders, and members of my community that I never would have crossed paths with otherwise. Building those relationships and being part of moments that bring people together has made this experience so much more meaningful to me. It has given me a deeper appreciation for the impact sports can have on communities, and I'm incredibly grateful to have played a small role in creating those memories."
