Box Score Waterville, ME - The Colby College Women's Tennis Team was defeated by a score of 8-1 by the Amherst Mammoths on Sunday, April 3rd. The Mules struggled in the doubles, going down 0-3 after all the positions finished. In the singles, the Mules fought gamely but couldn't get past the finish line in the end. There were some bright spots during the singles, with
Sam Riordan and
Carly Levitz having close first sets at the #2 and #1 positions respectively. Levitz had some great points against one of the top Division 3 players in the country, showing off her signature consistency and fighting spirit.
It was
Katharine Dougherty whose star shined brightest on the day. The #6 singles player scored a great straight sets win, grinding down her opponent with great depth on her shots and excellent court coverage. The match added another win to Dougherty's singles season record, which is very impressive to date.
The Mules will look to rebound on April 9th at the Harold Alfond Athletics Center against Connecticut College at 10 am. It will be Senior Day for
