Box Score Lewiston, ME - The Colby College Women's Tennis Team defeated the Bates Bobcats by a score of 7-2 on Saturday, April 16th. The Mules started off strong, taking all three doubles points in the indoor field house courts without losing more than 4 games in each set. The match then moved then shifted outdoors for the singles for a brief moment, before rain than interrupted the match again. At the time, the Mules were ahead in all of the singles matches except for #3 singles. Moving back indoors proved tricky for Colby, as Sydney Landau fought hard but was defeated by an in-form opponent. With the match at 3-1 to the Mules, Lindsey Hernandez looked to be that 4th point with a clinical first set win and 5-4 lead in the second, but her opponent clawed her way back and took the second set 7-5 to force the match into a decider. 

Carly Levitz came up big for the Mules with a straight sets win at the #1 position to push the Mules within one match of victory. With Sam Riordan falling in the first set at #2 and Caroline Kittle just going onto court to play her #5 singles match because of the field house only having 4 courts, all eyes turned to Katharine Dougherty at #6. In a long final game, Dougherty hit an excellent backhand passing shot to force her opponent into a forced volley error to clinch the match for the Mules. With the match at 5-1, Hernandez fought back from a 0-3 deficit in the third set to win 6-4, pushing the Mules to 6-1. With Riordan falling in straight sets at the #2 position and Kittle defeating her opponent in straight sets at the #5 position, the Mules ended a great day in Lewiston with a 7-2 win.
