Box Score Waterville, ME - The Colby College Women's Tennis Team defeated visiting Trinity College on Sunday, April 10th by a score of 8-1. Starting indoors in the Harold Alfond Athletic Center, the Mules dominated in doubles, winning at all three positions.
Caleigh McClain and
Caroline Kittle eased to victory with an 8-2 win at the #3 position.
Sam Riordan and
Sydney Landau recovered from a 2-5 deficit to win 6 games in a row for an 8-5 win at the #2 position.
Carly Levitz and
Lindsey Hernandez were made to work at the #1 position, but ultimately defeated their opponents in a very close 8-7(5) victory. The Mules carried 3 points on the board into the singles matches, where the match moved outside.
Katharine Dougherty continued her fabulous singles season with a clean 6-0, 6-0 victory at the #6 position to push the Mules within one match for victory. Levitz came up huge for the Mules, keeping her opponent's second set comeback at bay with a 6-1, 6-4 win at the #1 position to clinch the match for the Mules. Riordan was also in a tight tussle, with leads coming and going, but showing amazing fight in her 7-5, 7-6(2) win at the #2 position. Kittle recovered from a 1-4 deficit in her first set to win 7-5, 6-1 at the #5 position. Landau also came out a straight sets winner at the #3 position. Trinity got their lone point at #4 singles.Â
