Lewiston, Maine - The Colby Softball Team headed down to Lewiston to play their third game against Bates College this weekend. Colby showcased the power of their hitting today, winning 16-13 in seven innings of play.
Payton Crowley started in the circle for the Mules, and the offense gave tremendous support. Colby scored eight runs in the first inning, highlighted by a grand slam from junior
Amanda Cabral. The Mules plated four more runs in the fourth, with
Logan Luebbe,
Jackie Hill,
Colleen McAvoy, and Crowley all pushing a run across.
Sam Ahlholm came on in relief in the fifth inning, pitching the remainder of the game and striking out four. Colby finished the game with eighteen hits on the day, led by
Chloe Wilcox and McAvoy who collected four hits apiece.
The Mules finish their three games against Bates with three home runs, two of which were grand slams, 30 RBIs, and 32 hits to total 35 runs against their NESCAC rival.Â
Colby is back in action this Friday, April 15, in a NESCAC matchup against Tufts University in Waterville, Maine at 4:00 PM.
