Waterville, MAINE - Colby Baseball took on the Tufts Jumbos today, April 1st, at 3:00 PM. Before the matchup the Mules were 10-1 and riding high after a great win against U-Maine Farmington. Unfortunately, Colby just missed the mark today, losing 10-9 in the bottom of the ninth. 

Cabot Maher was ultimately charged with the loss as the Jumbos charged back to score four runs in the bottom half of the last inning. Julian Erro got the start, pitching five innings and allowing only two runs. Jack Pletter came in in relief between the two, pitching for 2.2 innings. 

Even with the tough loss, The Mules still have a lot to be happy with offensively. They scored five runs in the second, one in the third and fourth, one in the sixth, and one in the ninth. Colby has had lots of consistency in their lineup so far this year, and that didn't change today. Cole Palmeri led the team in hits with three to pair with two RBIs and three runs of his own. Next, Clint Flippo and Charlie Furlong also had great days at the plate. They each went two for four at the plate, with two singles each. Furlong just beat out Flippo for RBIs, as he had two and Flippo had one. Its always a great sign for a team when comparing players is essentially just praising all of them for great performances. That is just what it is for this team, even in the face of a loss. 

The Mules play next tomorrow, Saturday, April 2nd at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM in a double header against Tufts. They'll look to take revenge for today's loss by taking both games tomorrow.
