Box Score Waltham, MA - The Colby Women's Tennis Team notched their second match win over the weekend as they defeated Brandeis University by a score of 5-1. The Mules cruised in doubles with wins across the board at all positions to go up 3-0 heading into singles.
Caleigh McClain and
Caroline Kittle narrowly skirted by a resurgent Brandeis team at the 3rd position, with Kittle slamming an overhead to win the match.
In the singles,
Sam Riordan got the fourth point for the Mules with a decisive straight sets win at the 2nd position. With only one match win left for the Mules to clinch it, all eyes fell to
Sydney Landau at the third position and
Carly Levitz at the first position. With Levitz falling in a close match, Landau had to come up with some incredible backhand slices and angle volley winners to clinch the match for the Mules.
"It was a tough match but the energy was high and we came out blazing and did not stop until we got the W," said Landau. Landau and Riordan come off an undefeated weekend at both the singles and doubles positions.
